Perimenopause & Mood

Psychiatric care for the mood shifts, anxiety, irritability, and sleep changes that can arrive with the hormonal transition toward menopause.

Signs you might recognize

Does this sound familiar?

  • Mood swings or low mood that don't match what's happening in your life
  • New or sharper anxiety and irritability
  • Sleep broken by night sweats, early waking, or a mind that won't settle
  • Brain fog, or trouble with focus and finding words
  • Symptoms that seem to track with an increasingly unpredictable cycle

If several of these resonate, it doesn't necessarily mean a diagnosis. It's still worth a conversation.

How I treat perimenopause & mood

My approach.

Hormonal transition is a real and under-discussed driver of psychiatric symptoms, and it deserves more than 'this is just your age.' We'll look at the timing of your symptoms alongside your history and treat the mood, anxiety, and sleep pieces in a way that fits this stage of life. I focus on the psychiatric side and coordinate with your gynecologist or primary care clinician when hormonal treatment is part of the picture.
